Personal Statement

Do you ever wonder what you think when you open up a book? What is your first thought? Well the book is going to be interesting or not that well written. When you hear about me, it’s like opening up a brand new book with a 1000 pages of mystery. My name is Brandon and I am a senior attending R. L. Turner High School in the academy of METSA (Math Engineering Technology Science Academy). In life my goal is to become successful by giving my all and since I like to work with my hands, I would like to work in the engineering field. I will be going to the University of Texas at Dallas, majoring in Computer Science Engineer (CSE) and Electrical Engineering (EE). The world is big, but my dreams are bigger which for me motivates me to be successful in life. In the future with my skills I’m going to change the world in so many ways and will be on the road to success.

Well first thing is first, you need to know a little about me before you turn to the rest of those pages. I have two brothers, a twin brother named Trevor and a little brother named Zachary. I’m eighteen. I was born on June 11, 1994, in Plano, TX. Choosing to come to METSA was my key to be very successful. The teachers and the students helped me become a more independent person and thanks to them I will become successful as I’m college ready. Before entering the ninth grade I went to this team building event that was very fun which inspired me to become an engineer in the future. In METSA we are taught using project based learning. This program is run by STEM and gives hands on learning to be college ready.

I love going to school it is my passion to become successful but at the same time have a good time in my high school career. In METSA there is no such thing as a boring day; every day is different and interesting. During my years here at METSA, they have taught me how to be life ready, career ready and, college ready which is METSA slogan.
The second chapter of my book is my favorite things to do, if I were given a million dollars, where do I see myself in twenty years and what inspired me to want to pursue engineering. The ten most loving things I like to do are: listening to music, sleeping, problem solving, Football, reading, drawing, building, and watching T.V. If I were to be given a million dollars I would walk on a tall metal beam going from one place to another. The thing that I realized that made a positive difference in my life is my mother, she has been there through all the steps in my life, when I was angry, sad, lonely, she supported me, so I thanked her for doing the thing she does to make me who I’m today, and I appreciate that. In twenty years I imagine myself with my friends and family, rich in a big house and have a career of being an engineer. In my life when I was deeply inspired was when I was at a fair and at night they had a laser show on a wall and it was the most inspiring thing I have ever seen in my life.

My goal in life that you already know is to become an engineer and right now as a student I go by learning outcomes which can help me achieve my goal at an even higher pace. Citizenship & ethics is the most important which contains: being prepared, turn in work on time and knowing how to work with people you do not like. Collaboration helps me learn how well I work with others and in the engineering field you’re going to have to work with people you don’t like so you have to know how to work together. Communication is very important this is presenting, talking to people, and helps get a great quality project. Information literacy is being up to date with technology and knows how to use equipment like a computer, Microsoft Office and AUTO-CAD. Curricular literacy is how well you know the content of the project which is best utilized in grades. Then finally is Career preparation which is the process and research through our four years to find out what school and major we want to pursue. All the leaning outcomes aggregates together, by helping me raise these leaning outcomes, to become a better worker, and very helpful.

So how did you think of my 1,000 page story? I will complete my goals and become successful. Dreams are the way to live a successful life and are the way to accomplish a great life. My family, my peers, and my mentors throughout life are those who affected my life to make me want to be successful. I’m getting a career that I love: working with my hands, and having fun while doing so. All I want to be is to be successful with a healthy family and live the American dream.
I hope I achieve my goal as an engineer that now as a student I’ve most of the abilities of being an engineer. When I do I’ll look back to all the trouble I went through and laugh and say “I’ve made the biggest change in the world. I believe in myself and my family for all of the trouble and hardships that I’ve gone through to get here.
